Court orders Gani Guroo’s arrest

The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Sopore Saturday permitted police to arrest a Hurriyat activist Abdul Gani Bhat alias Gani Guroo son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat of Baba Raza Sopore, who is wanted by police.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Sopore Saturday permitted police to arrest a Hurriyat activist Abdul Gani Bhat alias Gani Guroo son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat of Baba Raza Sopore, who is wanted by police. Police station Tarzoo, Sopore has registered FIR No 142 of 2016 under sections 147, 148,149, 336, 307, 341 and 188 of Ranbir Penal code against Gani for leading protest rallies in North Kashmir. While accepting the application of SHO Tarzoo Sopore seeking arrest warrant of Bhat under section of 25 police act, the court permitted the police to arrest him. “I have gone through the application and the Police act. I am satisfied with the police statement that accused is involved in heinous offences and his arrest is necessary for the disposal of the case pending against him,” reads an order issued by CJM Sopore, Mehraj-u-din Sofi. The CJM authorized SHO police station Tarzoo to arrest the accused and produce him before the court if and when found.
